Pumpkin-Puree Smoothie
Creamy and flavorful diet smoothie, you'd never guess it's sugarless!
You can throw just about anything in a fruit smoothie to enhance its flavor such as honey, tofu, jams, any combination of fruits, peanut butter, juices, etc., but keep in mind it will effect the nutritional values.
In a blender, combine:
1 cup of fat-free plain yogurt 1 can (15 oz.) of pure pumpkin 1/4 tsp. each of cinnamon and ground ginger. 4 ice cubes a splash of nonfat milk
Blend until smooth.
The pumpkin's fiber stabilizes blood sugar levels to quell cravings. What's more, the gourd's antioxidants beta-carotene and lutein halt free-radical damage to the retinas, helping to keep vision crystal clear.
A study by the USDA indicated that diets high in pumpkin as a fiber source tended to curb the appetite, yet provided more food for the same calorie count. The subjects in this study also absorbed less fat and calories from their food.
